After playing the “classics” of Mulatu Astatke or Girma Beyene, the musicians offers us 9 new songs. Original compositions where we find the melodies and rhythms of the Ethiopian music of “Swinging Addis” mixed with their influences, kraütrock, psychedelic music and afrojazz. An atmosphere of trance with Ethiopian kiñits, tracks that invite you to travel and explore.

Recorded during the pandemic, between two confinements and successive curfews, in a vital impetus, this album sounds the gross need to create.

The record is released in vinyl edition on the STEREOPHONK label in standard edition and in limited edition with an alternative screen-printed cover.

“Behind the Mask: Jazz, flute, percussion, free, groove and all the spices of Ethiopia in The Selenites Band’s upcoming album. The Stereophonk label, takes us here to the groove of the streets of Addis Ababa, circa 70’s, when ethiojazz panicked the Derg soldiers. Antoine Laloux’s flute takes you very far into East Africa, emerging from the limbo of a psychedelic dream, imbued with afrojazz and kraütrock. “Helen’s Dance In The Sky” is at the same time full of sweetness, but the drumsticks are somewhat panicking on the cymbals and the saxophone reminds us that we travel to the borders of East Africa, between Africa and the East, in a full-bodied and floral afrojazz like an Ethiopian coffee. ”
